OCMA-Bob Swenson Memorial Field

The Scale Squadron is a charter club in the OCMA (Orange County Modeling Association). As such, Scale Squadron members are eligible to join the OCMA and use their field in Black Starr Canyon, (otherwise known as the Bob Swenson Memorial Field). The field is off Santiago Canyon near Irvine Lake. Flying at OCMA REQUIRES membership in an associate club such as the Scale Squadron AND membership in the OCMA at additional cost.

The OCMA field’s runway is beautifully manicured asphault and able to accommodate all types of aircraft (except turbines). There is ample pit area to accommodate plenty of fliers. Bob Swenson Memorial Field is located 1/8 mile south of Irvine Lake off of Santiago Canyon Road. The field is leased from the Orange County (formerly from the Irvine Co), and is operated under the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) guidelines. The OCMA uses this field as their home site; more information can be found at their website.
